Here's a few things about myself.

As some of you know my name is Noah. I was named that because I was born in a little pool in our living room. My middle name is Flynn it means son of a red haired man so I bet u can figure out why they called me that(hint hint;) ) My nickname also some of u know is Mr. mustache because every time I ate I had something under Neath my nose so they grew to call me Mr. mustache.

I was born in Calgary on may 2nd 2003. I was born at 5:27am I weighed 8punds 14ounses and I was 22ninches tall. I first started walking at 10months. My first sentence was “mum Benja pee”. When I was 2 ½ and my mom said she was going to have a baby I said ”I put baby in jail”  because that’s what I always said when I was angry or just to be sillyJ.

Today I am 10 and I weigh 69 pounds. I have blond hair and blue eyes that change every season. I’m often wearing a mustache( not real) my aunty sais I have such long eye lashes that I can sweep the floor with them (totally not trueJ).

My family has 7 members including my two pets. I am (unfortunately) the middle son close behind my 13 year old brother and way ahead of my younger 6 year old brother. My parents on the other hand are at least a decade in front of me at 41 and 51. My pet hamster Felix, as most of the people in our class have seen on one my book reports, is close to a rat but with no tail and smells way better. My brother’s pet is a guinea pig which is close to a rabbit.

I have had a very interesting school career. First I went to St.Joseph for kinder garden, then Stony Creek for grades 1 2 & 3. Stony Creek was special, not only was it awesome but on Monday, Wednesday and Friday you would be home schooled and not only was that aggravating but all you did was homework and unfortunately your teacher was your mom (doesn’t mean I don’t love you momJ). BEST MOMENT IN THE WORLD WAS WHEN I GOT TO MAKE GREEK WAR SHIP OUT OF ice cream. Now I’m in grade 5 and my friends, you know what, there’s too many to name.

I have many interesting hobbies.  One of my hobbies is climbing because I love the feeling of accomplishment when I reach the top of something. Another is parkouring because I love to run, jump, and use my body to move around. Soccer is another because I love to kick things. I love biking because I like to go off jumps and ride some sort of vehicle.  Drawing is something that I like to do when I’m bored because it’s practice for art. I recently won one hundred dollars in an art contest.

I have soooooo many favorite foods but here are some of my favorite: in 5th place is lasagna, in 4th place is spring roles, in 3rd place is spaghetti, in 2nd place is tacos. In 1st place, drum roll please, WAFFLES.

There aren’t many things dislike but I managed some how to come up with these.  BULLYING is my #1 dislike in all the world. It kills me to see kids getting picked onL. Another thing I hate is mushrooms. Not only do they taste bad, but the texture of them feels weird (no offense to any one who likes mushrooms). Another dislike of mine is HOMEWORK (I bet EVERYONE  hates it) and this is my reason. I think after school should be for fun not for work you’ve been doing all day.

I’ve had a lot of great times, and when I say a lot I mean A LOT, but here are some of them. My first best is when me and my friend climbed up his house and as I said before, I felt so accomplished.  My second best time is when I went to Disneyland.  Who doesn’t like Disneyland?  I liked being able to spend time with my family.  My third great time is when I got my bow and arrow for Christmas. It was my very first compound bow.

I bet most of you haven’t decided what you’re going to do for a living when you grow up, well I have.  I’m going to be a teacher. I want to be a teacher because I love to work with kids and more kids and MORE KIDS. I am, in fact, going to marry and have kids, but only 4 or 5.  I’m going to university for about five years.  I’m going to go to the university of Alberta.

The First Day of School

First to the second to the third to the fourth day of school, and wow has it been different : ).   It makes me dizzy!!! I'm going to a completely different school, FYI full time school.  I'm all done homeschooling!!

Now my first day of school was fun, strange and surprising!!  Here is my teacher but the white here is a wig.

Yes he's dressed like a scientist, so what. He also gave us small magnifying glasses and that was the surprising part....I mean its the first day of school and you walk in and then as soon as you put one step in and before you can say a single word your handed a book and a magnifying glass  and your asked to sit

and when you sit your like, "um... hi"and then your totally pumped all day!!!!!! : )

Even though my new school is awesome I still miss all of Stony Creek's teachers, (this is no time to laugh this is a time to be serious!!) students and friends, AWESOMENESS.  what I miss from homeschooling is well:
"Mom, where is the cheese?"
"Mom, do I have to do my math?"
"Mom, where's Sam?"
"Mom, you still haven't answered about the cheese."
"Mom, when's piano?"
"Mom, where's my pencil?"
"Mom"..."What?"  "I forget."
I don't think my Mom misses that, but what I'm trying to say is that I really miss homeschooling ish.
I also miss art, sciesnce, mmaatthh, sculpting, history, and especially spending time with my mom

What I want out of the school year is no bullying, lots of science learning, art learning and MORE RECESS!! At home I want to learn more about the Renaissance, the subjects are usually Art, Faith, Science, Engineering and sculpting.  The people I want to learn about are Donatello, or his real name which is too long, Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bard.

I also want to learn about Leonardo Da Vinci and

Michelangelo  He's awesome because he does sculpting and

painting and he also does a lot of other awesomeness.

the good news and the bad news

So I guess you're all wondering what I liked about school and what I didn't like. So I'm going to tell you. Well first of all there is a lot of things I liked so I'm just going to tell you a few.

The first thing I liked is recess, well everyone does.  At recess I always play soccer. It's my favourite sport.  My 2nd favourite thing is gym. I like to play Doctor Dodge Ball.  My 3rd favourite is science because you get to do experiments.

The worst part about school is GETTING IN TROUBLE!!!!!!!.  (Mrs.Saurer I'm pretty sure you know what I mean aka my teacher.)  There's nothing else that I don't like about school!!!!

What I liked about home school is:

  1. Drawing and sculpting
  2.  Get to see my family more
  3. Studying history
Now what I didn't like was:
  1. Math-ish (that means that I kind of like it but kinda hate it)
  2. Getting annoyed my brother
  3. The letter e

"It was the best of times it was the worst of times."
So that's what I liked about my school year.

Ice Cream Rocks Especially In Boat Form

This is my ancient greek ship I made out of ice cream.  It took me 4 days to finish building because I'm so busy with 3on3 hockey and it started melting then we had to put it back in the freezer three times.

I used a block of ice cream, blue icing, raisins, skewers, Oreo cookies, marshmallows(chairs), paper, chop sticks, lego guys, plastic garbage can.

I also did some research on what the sail looked like.  If you look closely on the sail you can see a bull.

After we finally got to eat it.

The Marathon

Today there is a race called a marathon.  The name comes from the war fought by the Greeks and the Persians.  The war lasted 60 years. Eventually the Greeks won the war.  They were so happy they sent a warrior named Pheidippiedes to run back to Athens.  He ran 26 miles from marathon to Athens to tell everyone that they won the war.  But when he arrived he died of exhaustion.  That is why there is a race called the marathon.

Why We Should bring our Devices to School

Here's a little persuasive writing I did.

Dear Parkland School Division,

There is an issue I’d like to discuss, we should be allowed to bring our devices to school. We should have our devices at school so we can:

  • Use the dictionary App.  The dictionary App is an app that allows you to look up any word you want and hear it so you know it’s the right one.  There’s also a microphone in the top right that allows you to speak your word instead of typing.  It also has a thesaurus. There’s also Word of the Day so you can find out words that you never knew existed.

  • Find facts:  Instead of laptops you can use your device to look up images and facts for projects, bulletin boards, and graphs.

  •  Look up Experiments: you can tell the teacher more ideas on what they can do for science or social studies.  Or if you have something wrong you can look up that experiment and see if you did something incorrectly.

  • Google maps: we can look up where a place is and how far it takes to get there.  It’s helpful for Social Studies.

  • Google docs: you can make a story that you want to do with a friend and you don’t have to send it to them or don’t have to be at the same house.  They can go on the story and add on to it.

  • Don’t need to wait for laptops:  There’s not enough laptops in the school for everybody so why not bring your iPad or iPod (or iPhone) so you don’t have to wait.  You can just pull your iPod out of your pocket.  It’s right there.  All you need right there in your pocket.

  • Notes and reminders: Notes and reminders are something on your iPod or device that you can pout down stuff you need so you don’t forget.  Now don’t get mixed up with reminders and notes.  There’s a big difference.  Notes you can type your notes instead of writing them down on paper.  Now reminders on the other hand is completely different.  You can set a time for a reminder to beep.  For example: “I need to put finish my project at home” and it will beep at a certain time.

Some potential problems:
1.     Students might lose their devices.  They have to give it to the teacher when they are not using it so they don’t lose it.
 2.     Students might be playing games.  Teachers can take the iPod away until the end of the day.  (Personal permission from Noah J)
 3.     Not everybody has a device.  The students can share.

It would be helpful in our learning to have our iPods at school.
Thank you for reading.

Sincerely,

Noah Oleksyn
